Three-time IRONMAN World Champion Craig ‘Crowie’ Alexander has been inducted into the IRONMAN Hall of Fame, receiving the honour in his first year of eligibility. The Australian triathlon legend will be formally inducted during IRONMAN World Championship week in Kona this October.
Across a distinguished 25-year career, the Sydney native claimed over 100 professional victories across all distances, including 12 national titles and five world championships.
Alexander’s career highlights include three IRONMAN World Championship titles (2008, 2009, 2011) and two IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship titles (2006, 2011). In 2011, at age 38, he made history by becoming the first athlete to hold both the IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship titles in the same year. During that year’s race in Kona, he became the oldest athlete to win the title, setting both a new run course record and breaking the 15-year-old overall course record – a record he held until 2017.
Beyond his individual achievements, Alexander founded the Sansego Tri Club in 2014, which has guided nearly 8,000 athletes. In 2015, Australia recognised his sporting success and charitable work with the Medal of the Order of Australia. He continues to contribute to the sport as an IRONMAN U Master Coach, mentor, and television commentator.
“I’m deeply appreciative of IRONMAN for this recognition,” said Craig Alexander. “When I picked up this sport at age 20, I had no idea it would still be such a defining part of my life more than three decades later. I’m honoured to join the IRONMAN Hall of Fame, and grateful to all those who pushed me toward every finish line along the way.”
