Castelli has introduced the next generation of its Polartec AirCore products with the launch of the Perfetto 4, Perfetto Pro, and Gabba Pro jackets.
AirCore was developed in partnership with Polartec and was introduced into the Castelli range last year. The fabric is lightweight, breathable, windproof, water repellent, and 100% free from PFAS-based chemicals.
The fourth generation of the Perfetto jacket splits into two options: the Perfetto 4 and the Perfetto Pro. The Perfetto 4 features a 219g AirCore fabric offering added insulation and a performance fit designed for everyday riders in temperatures between 4–12°C. It includes an updated splash tail, rear pocket metal drainage holes, and transparent shoulder taping, priced at €260, US$330, and £280.
The Perfetto Pro utilises a lighter 150g AirCore fabric designed for higher speeds and race conditions in temperatures ranging from 6–14°C. It features a race fit, reinforced shoulder seams, a floating pocket construction, a two-way zipper, and a splash tail, priced at €280, US$350, and £300. The jacket has been used in WorldTour races by professional cycling team Soudal Quick-Step.
The Gabba Pro introduces AirCore technology to a short-sleeved race-ready jacket for the first time. It utilizes the same 150g fabric and close-to-body fit as the Perfetto Pro jersey. Available as an online exclusive, the jacket comes in standard and race editions, priced at €260, US$320, and £230.
Steve Smith, Global Brand Manager at Castelli, said “The feedback we kept on hearing from customers, though, was that it was lighter weight than previous Perfettos, and that they wanted more warmth. That’s why, with the Perfetto 4, we’ve listened to that feedback and introduced a new 219g AirCore fabric to this jacket which has more loft and provides added insulation.”
Smith continued “The Perfetto Pro though, is a sleek, minimalist race piece. Its ergonomic, close-to-body construction is designed to eliminate excess and maximize breathability and stretch. It is produced from a 150g AirCore fabric which delivers an optimal balance of breathability, stretch and protection for riders operating at higher speeds and sustained intensity.”
