After a hiatus, The Color Run is making a comeback this autumn/fall under new ownership. US-based sports entertainment company, Y11 Sport & Media, has secured the international master licence from event company Bigsley, the original creator of the fun run series.
The relaunch will be led by Thematic Runs, a new division of Y11, which will manage and expand the event’s footprint in the United States and into select international markets.
The first US events for the ‘happiest 5K on the planet’ are scheduled for later this year. The series kicks off in Los Angeles, CA, on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Dignity Health Sports Park, followed by a second event in Dallas, TX, on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Fair Park.
Additional US and international dates for 2026 will be announced in the coming months.
James Davies-Yandle, Founder and CEO of Y11 Sport and Media, said, “The Color Run fits naturally into the Y11 portfolio of purpose-driven endurance experiences.
“Alongside our premier event brands including Motiv Sports running events, Challenge Family triathlons, and Vacation Races, The Color Run adds a new offering that deepens our connection with international audiences in fresh, meaningful ways.”
Participants are being told to expect… ‘all the vibrant fun that made The Color Run an international phenomenon, plus new elements.’
- Four colour zones with colour throws at every kilometre
- Music throughout the course, including warm-up zones and sound stations
- Headliner DJ and festival vibes at the Finish Festival
- Expanded Finish Festival with massive colour throws, food trucks, a beer garden, sponsor activations, and a wellness zone
The Color Run was originally created in 2012 by Travis and Heidi Snyder, founders of Bigsley. Since its inception, the series has welcomed more than 8 million participants in over 50 countries.
Heidi Snyder said “After an exhaustive search for the right partner, we are excited to welcome Y11 and Thematic Runs to The Color Run family.
“It’s a magical brand, and we have every confidence that they will help bring the same joy and happiness to a new generation of color runners.”
Registration for all events will be provided by Let’s Do This, the online marketplace for finding and booking endurance events.
