Face to face: Rudy Project’s Astral Arc eyewear designed for a wider range of face shapes

Rudy Project Astral Arc eyewear designed for a wider range of face shapes

Rudy Project, the Italian specialist in sports eyewear and Official Eyewear Partner of the UTMB World Series, has introduced Astral Arc. The  new eyewear model has been developed to accommodate a wider range of face shapes and aims to deliver comfort, stability, and optical clarity for trail runners, road runners, cyclists, and triathletes.

Drawing on the company’s experience in optical solutions, Astral Arc combines features for daily training and long endurance competitions in a new design.

At the heart of Astral Arc is a newly developed cylindrical lens (base 6), engineered to provide a versatile fit. Its geometry adapts to a wide variety of face shapes, reducing pressure points during long sessions. Runy Project adds that the result is eyewear that stays in place without compromising comfort, allowing athletes to focus on the route ahead.

Weighing 31g, Astral Arc is designed to feel lightweight during long-distance activities. The frame is made from Rilsan Clear, a bio-based polymer containing 45% material derived from castor oil sourced through certified supply chains. Soft, flexible temples move with the head without becoming rigid. According to the company, this choice reflects its commitment to responsible solutions without compromising performance.

The adjustable nosepiece allows athletes to tune the fit to their facial features while maintaining stability through dynamic movements. Optically, the mirrored polycarbonate lens – available with a category 3 filter – provides protection against UV rays and flying debris while delivering distortion-free vision. This helps when reading terrain, reacting to changes in light, or tackling technical descents.

Like many of the brand’s models, Astral Arc is compatible with an RX optical insert, allowing athletes who require vision correction to add prescription lenses without compromising ventilation or performance.

Astral Arc is available in seven standard colourways, complemented by one limited-edition version. The recommended retail price is €149.90.

Since 1985, Rudy Project sunglasses, helmets, and sports eyewear have combined technology with Italian design and craftsmanship. The company has collaborated with champions across sporting disciplines, across triathlon, athletics, running, trail running, cross-country skiing, speed skating, and sailing competitions.

Today, the brand maintains partnerships with sports federations, elite teams such as World Tour Team Bahrain Victorious, and individual athletes. Its partnership with the Italian Cycling Federation will continue through to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, while its collaboration with UTMB World Series will run through to the end of the 2027 season. Rudy Project products are made in Veneto, Italy, with distribution in over 60 countries worldwide.
